| New
life and energy appear as soil begins
to live again and daylight gains in
length. From March, many hours are spent
encouraging a new crop of lambs to get
on with living and growing. The last
of the vegetable field is cleared
and the plough takes over to prepare
for Spring cereals and potatoes to
be planted. The cattle leave the shelter
of the Fold Yard to return to eat
fresh grass again.
The last of the previous season’s
seed potatoes are graded and despatched
throughout the country in preparation
for planting. As the temperature climbs,
the carrot seeds are sown in batches
to cope with the weeding and sustain
harvesting through the autumn, winter
and spring months of 2003/2004.
